From the Desk of Steve Kelnhofer - Elementary School Principal

Dear Parents/Guardians,
Happy Halloween! It was awesome to see all the fun, joy and community through the Halloween activities this week. Thank you homeroom parents for supporting classroom Halloween parties and teachers. It’s fun to bring our SMSA community together to celebrate. It brings joy to see the little Ledgers dressed up for Halloween as they share their costumes and characters with the community around them. A bonus thank you to our Parent Connectors for providing us the opportunity for Trunk or Treat. Another fun community event that brings us together as one. The Parent Connectors did a wonderful job with navigating some of the shifts in procedures beginning this school year. THANK YOU!

This week we’ll attend All Saints Day Mass as a school community on November 1st. This Mass will be an opportunity for our third graders to present the Litany of Saints to our SMSA community. It’s a very special moment in our school year for us and in particular the third grade class. Awesome work third grade teachers, parents and students! We are blessed to have all of you at SMSA showing us great role models to follow.

An after school lower playground concern has been brought to our attention. The issue seems to revolve around parent supervision after school hours as written in our handbook. SMSA is looking for ways to solve this issue as a Ledger community. We hope to communicate a solution in the near future regarding this situation as we work as a community to support safety on campus outside school hours.

We are approaching the end of our first trimester of school. The trimester officially closes Nov. 15th. Skyward is a great place to check in to see the progress your child(ren) are making in school regarding student learning. SMSA was just notified Skyward push notifications have been down the last few weeks. The issue has been corrected by Skyward. We apologize for any in convivence this issue may have caused.

Thank you for your continued partnership with SMSA. Together we will create a path for tomorrow’s children to achieve amazing dreams.

God Bless,
Steven Kelnhofer
