Principal’s Desk News & Information Upcoming Dates School Care News
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We hope this message finds you well as the Valentine candy rush slows down! As we move through February, we want to take a moment to express our gratitude for your continued support and engagement in our school community. Together, we are making a difference in the lives of our students.
The second trimester officially closes on February 28th. It’s a good time to log into Skyward and take a peek at your child’s progress. Our second trimester will conclude on February 28th. Skyward report cards will be accessible on March 6th at 3:00 PM. Please use Skyward to digitally sign report cards and gain access to the learning accomplished during the second trimester.
Please remember to send winter gear with your child to school. SMSA will be watching the temperatures closely throughout the day to hopefully allow the students some time outside to play in the snow.
Thank you for your continued partnership with SMSA. Together, we create a path for tomorrow’s children to achieve amazing dreams.
God Bless,
Steven Kelnhofer
Elementary Principal, SMSA
The Principal’s Pen is an opportunity for teachers to recognize students who consistently demonstrate “The Ledger Way” with a focus on faith, learning, respect for leadership, community and responsibility. The students chosen will attend a special breakfast with Mr. Kelnhofer, Mr. Thuerwachter and a special guest. They will also receive a certificate with a brief sentence on how they followed “The Ledger Way,” and a principal’s pen. This week’s special guest speaker was Stacey Akey, System President.

Do you have books at home collecting dust? If so, we have the perfect solution! In recognition of National Reading Month, the high school club Chapter Chats is hosting a book drive for gently used books of any genre and age. Donations will be given to the St. Katharine Drexel Shelter. Donation boxes will be located by the North and South Hall offices March 3rd-7th. Please consider supporting the club and helping the community. Thank you, and happy reading!
In April we will be celebrating SCHOOL LIBRARY MONTH. To help celebrate, we would like each student to be able to add a “brick” for every book they check out (keep in mind our older students can check out up to 3 books a week! That’s a lot of LEGOs!) What will we build? It’s up to the students and their placement of their “bricks”. So if you have any extra clean LEGOs and are willing to donate them to the library…we would LOVE to take them off your hands! Duplo sized would be wonderful for our younger students, and building plates would also be great to have as well. Stay tuned and find out what we build!
Deadline to donate Lego’s is Friday, March 14, 2025 – Lego’s can be turned in to the South Hall Office.
On-line registration opens February 1st at: www.fdlyouthbaseball.com. Players must be in grade 4K – 12 at the time of registration. Register your player for the grade they are in right now!

Sister Act Jr
Based on the hit 1992 film and Tony-nominated Broadway musical, Sister Act JR. is a feel-good musical comedy that will have audiences jumping to their feet! Featuring original music by Alan Menken (Newsies, Beauty and the Beast, Little Shop of Horrors). When disco diva, Deloris Van Cartier, witnesses a murder, she is put in protective custody in the one place the cops are sure she won’t be found: a convent! Disguised as a nun, she finds herself at odds with both the rigid lifestyle and uptight Mother Superior. Using her unique disco moves and singing talent to inspire the choir, Deloris breathes new life into the church and community but, in doing so, blows her cover. Soon, the gang is giving chase, only to find them up against Deloris and the power of her newly found sisterhood.
Filled with powerful gospel music, outrageous dancing, and a truly moving story, Sister Act JR. will leave audiences breathless. A sparkling tribute to the universal power of friendship, Sister Act JR. is a reason to REJOICE!
The musical is presented by St. Mary’s Springs Academy Middle School, and directed by Sonya Packer and Michelle O’Brien. All ages are welcome. The shows are Friday, February 28th at 7 pm; Saturday, March 1st at 7 pm; and Sunday, March 2nd at 1 pm. The shows will be performed at Prairie Theatre at 400 University Dr., Fond Du Lac.
Tickets are $8 for adults and $4 for students and seniors. Purchase your tickets at Hometowntickets.com.
