From the Desk of Steve Kelnhofer - Elementary School Principal

Dear SMSA Families,
I hope this message finds you well and filled with joy. As we continue our journey through the school year, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt appreciation for your commitment and support. Together, we are creating a nurturing environment for our children to thrive.

As we approach March 5th, we celebrate Ash Wednesday, marking the beginning of our Lenten journey. This season calls us to grow closer to Jesus through repentance and returning to the Gospel. Let’s embrace this time together, creating holy moments through sacrifice, prayer, and almsgiving. Each small act of kindness can blossom into a pattern of holy moments, fostering a better world this Lenten season.

The second trimester officially closes on February 28th. This is a great opportunity to log into Skyward and take a look at your child’s progress.
Skyward report cards will be accessible on March 6th at 3:00 PM. Please remember to use Skyward to digitally sign report cards and gain access to the learning accomplished during the second trimester.

To view your child/children’s report card, please follow these steps:
Log into Family Access.
Click on the Portfolio tab on the left side.
Look for your child’s name.
Under Description, find the document labeled “Report Card” for the current term.
Click the document title; the Electronic Signature box will appear.
Click “View Report” to see your child’s report card.
After reviewing, click the small box, “I Agree.”
Click “Submit Signature” when you are finished.

Forward testing for Grades 3 – 8 will occur from April 1st through April 11th. Please help us ensure a successful testing experience by having your child(ren) present during this time. Additionally, students will need wired earbuds or wired headphones for part of the Forward Exam.

During this Lenten season, please know that I am praying for you and your families. Together, let us cultivate an attitude of gratitude and make time to truly notice one another.

Thank you for your continued partnership with SMSA. Together, we are paving the way for our children to achieve their amazing dreams.

God Bless,
Steven Kelnhofer
Elementary Principal, SMSA

News and Information

Middle School Musical - This Weekend!

Sister Act Jr
Based on the hit 1992 film and Tony-nominated Broadway musical, Sister Act JR. is a feel-good musical comedy that will have audiences jumping to their feet! Featuring original music by Alan Menken (Newsies, Beauty and the Beast, Little Shop of Horrors). When disco diva, Deloris Van Cartier, witnesses a murder, she is put in protective custody in the one place the cops are sure she won’t be found: a convent! Disguised as a nun, she finds herself at odds with both the rigid lifestyle and uptight Mother Superior. Using her unique disco moves and singing talent to inspire the choir, Deloris breathes new life into the church and community but, in doing so, blows her cover. Soon, the gang is giving chase, only to find them up against Deloris and the power of her newly found sisterhood.

Filled with powerful gospel music, outrageous dancing, and a truly moving story, Sister Act JR. will leave audiences breathless. A sparkling tribute to the universal power of friendship, Sister Act JR. is a reason to REJOICE!

The musical is presented by St. Mary’s Springs Academy Middle School, and directed by Sonya Packer and Michelle O’Brien. All ages are welcome. The shows are Friday, February 28th at 7 pm; Saturday, March 1st at 7 pm; and Sunday, March 2nd at 1 pm. The shows will be performed at Prairie Theatre at 400 University Dr., Fond Du Lac.

Tickets are $8 for adults and $4 for students and seniors. Purchase your tickets at Hometowntickets.com.

Wanted LEGOs for Library

In April we will be celebrating SCHOOL LIBRARY MONTH. To help celebrate, we would like each student to be able to add a “brick” for every book they check out (keep in mind our older students can check out up to 3 books a week! That’s a lot of LEGOs!) What will we build? It’s up to the students and their placement of their “bricks”. So if you have any extra clean LEGOs and are willing to donate them to the library…we would LOVE to take them off your hands! Duplo sized would be wonderful for our younger students, and building plates would also be great to have as well. Stay tuned and find out what we build!

Deadline to donate Lego’s is Friday, March 14, 2025 – Lego’s can be turned in to the South Hall Office.
