SMSA Covenant Statements: The Ledger Way In Actions

At the link here, SMSA Covenants I invite you to refresh your understanding of the Covenants for students, parents and employees of SMSA. These documents were developed as a way for all in our Springs community to better understand The Ledger Way in action. Each Covenant attempts to answer the question: How does it look when we are living our core values?

Thanks in advance for reviewing these important documents, and more importantly, for supporting the behaviors that flow from our treasured Core Values!

'Tis The Season: ACT Test Preparation of Ledgers

The annual ACT Test is scheduled for April 18th, when all juniors will take the test on-campus. On that same date, some juniors may opt to take the ACT Work Keys test instead. For many years ZAPS® ACT has been contracted by SMSA to provide in-person test preparation seminars to junior Ledgers. We continue to dedicate valuable in-school time each year during the second semester for ZAPS® ACT to provide guidance, helpful hints, and practice test opportunities for the whole junior class. This year’s “ZAPS Boot Camp” on the Ledge will occur on March 7th for all juniors.

Over the past two years, in addition to ZAPS® ACT SMSA juniors have also been served by Revolution Prep which offers online ACT test prep support and training, as well as optional opportunities for practice testing online. The methodology or Revolution Prep focuses on increasing executive functioning skills while also instilling a growth mindset. Revolution Prep practice ACT Test for all juniors is scheduled for February 15. On Saturday, February 3rd from 10am-12 Noon, Revolution Prep will host an online “ACT 101” strategy session – optional for students – but strongly recommended.

In our quest for continuous improvement, this year SMSA has added yet another program to complement ZAPS® ACT and Revolution Prep. OnToCollege will begin February 5, and continue each week through April 11. This program will be structured to occur through junior homerooms. The program offers 20 video sessions in short 15-20 minute segments as well as optional practice tests for students to access free of charge on their own time. Just like ZAPS® ACT and Revolution Prep, OnToCollege is designed to help juniors gain confidence in the process of standardized test taking and become more familiar with the style and content of the ACT.

These three highly regarded ACT test prep programs combined with our own excellent curriculum, supports Ledgers in their pursuit of intellectual growth, test skill development, confidence, and ultimately college testing success.

Our Lady of the Ledge, pray for us.

Mr. Eamonn O’Keeffe,
High School Principal

WI Parental Choice Program Opens February 1, 2024

The WI Parental Choice Program (WPCP) online application period will open February 1, 2024 and will close on Thursday April 18, 2024.

The DPI requires current Choice families to fill out the application for the 2024-2025 school year. Filling out the application for next school year (2024-2025) informs the DPI that you want to receive your Choice voucher for 2024-2025. If the DPI does not receive an application from a current Choice family the DPI assumes that you do not want the voucher for the next school year and your voucher will not be renewed.

New and current families must electronically submit their application here.

Current Choice families are not required to provide income documentation.

NEW families, applying for a school voucher, must be income eligible to apply. The following income limits have been posted for 2024-2025:
Family Size Maximum Yearly Income*
1 $32,076
2 $43,384
3 $54,692
4 $66,000
5 $77,308
6 $88,616
For each additional member in a family add $11,308.

Family income includes the income of the student’s parent(s)/legal guardian(s) that reside in the same household as the student.
Current Choice families are not required to provide income documentation. Proof of residency documents are required for current and new families.

Bibles and Blanket Project for Catholic Schools Week

Our annual Bibles and Blankets Project for Catholic Schools Week is made possible this year by the generosity of our Elementary and Middle School students and families who supported our Penny War this past fall! Students from all grades will have the chance to help cut and tie blankets or create prayer cards for our bundles. The Holy Family Warming Shelter will receive 30 twin size fleece blankets to be used in their facility as a result. Thank you!
