Principal’s Desk News & Information Upcoming Dates High School Counseling
My good, joyful Irish mother taught me to always say please and thank you. At this time, I offer a sincere litany of “thanks” to the SMSA Class of 2024.
Seniors, thank you for leading our school so well this year and for making your mark on the Ledge! Thanks for living your faith in prayer and service. Thank you for taking care of one another and picking one another up as classmates. Thank you for studying, for training, for committing. Thank you for volunteering – a lot! Thanks for being open to change. Thank you for creating and dreaming and sharing your talents. Thank you for laughing, for loving and for lifting spirits. Thank you for building community and for speaking the truth. Thank you for showing empathy and mercy. Thank you for saying “I am sorry” whenever it was needed. Thanks for your good humor and good judgment. Thanks for being winners – even when the score was not on your side. Thank you for asking good questions and for choosing to do the right thing – most of the time! Thank you for showing that you care for one another, your parents, your teacher and coaches. Thank you for teaching others through your vulnerabilities, your hurts and your fears. Thank you for showing up for your teachers and for one another. Thank you for leading, learning, and living the Ledger Way. Thank you for running this incredible academic marathon together…and finishing so well, together! As Sunday will be your special day. At Baccalaureate Mass and Commencement, we will thank you again…and we will celebrate your special character as the Class of 2024. You have earned all the gratitude and joy that comes along with it!
Our faculty and staff are honored to know you and to have played a role in your growth and development these past years. We can all see that your many academic, personal and athletic successes are a testament to hard work as well as the presence of God’s amazing grace in your lives. Thanks for allowing us to know you and walk with you on the Ledge.
Sunday, June 2 Baccalaureate Mass & Commencement Ceremony (Holy Family Church) Both events will be live streamed at facebook.com/HolyFamilyFdL Please feel free to share the link with family and friends who are unable to celebrate in-person.
NOTE: Folks do NOT need an account on Facebook to access the Holy Family live stream or Facebook page. There is no limit/restriction on guest attendance! Following Mass, a 10-15 minute intermission will enable students, faculty and staff to transition for the Class of 2024 Commencement Ceremony – projected to begin at approximately 3:30 pm – also in the church. High school diplomas shall be individually presented to each graduate at Commencement.
Our Lady of the Ledge, pray for us.
Mr. Eamonn O’Keeffe

The SMSA Athletic Code of Conduct Meetings will be held on June 24th, July 9th and August 7th at 6:00 pm in Baker Gym. All 5th through 12th grade students interested in participating in athletics during the 2024-2025 school year, MUST attend one of the meetings along with their parent or guardian. Those students intending to play football, should attend either the June 24th or July 9th meeting.
Click on the link below for the necessary athletic forms. All athletic forms must be completed and turned in prior to participating in the intended sport. Please contact Kelly Mueller at kmueller@smsacademy.org if you have any questions about the status of your child’s physical or other athletic paperwork.
Is your youngest SMSA student graduating this May? If you answered “yes” we need to know where to apply your Scrip credits acquired this year. That’s right – your Scrip credits can be applied to ANY tuition-based school as long as we know where your student is headed. Click here to complete the required form and return to the Scrip office by May 31st (the end of the Scrip fiscal year). Have an undecided student? No worries, select “future use” on the form and receive your credit at the end of next fiscal year.
AND… sending your youngest off to further their education doesn’t mean you should stop using Scrip. Continue to purchase Scrip, receive a check to apply to your student’s school, and continue to support SMSA.
