Holy Family to offer 400 free takeout Thanksgiving meals, volunteers needed

Reservations are now open for Holy Family’s takeout Thanksgiving meal. Those who reserve a meal can pick it up from noon to 4:00 pm at Holy Family Church on Wednesday, November 27. The meal will include sliced turkey with gravy, mashed potatoes, a bun, green beans, applesauce, and homemade dessert.

 

Four hundred meals are available on a first-come, first-served basis and must be reserved by Friday, November 15 by calling (920) 921-0580. When reserving, please specify how many meals you need and if you will be picking up for anyone else. Need is not a requirement to reserve a meal.

 

If you would like to contribute to the meal, we are seeking donations of applesauce cups and dinner rolls, as well as monetary contributions to offset the price of turkey, buns, and potatoes. Please bring all donations to the Holy Family Parish Office. Dinner rolls should be dropped off on Monday, November 25. To volunteer with distribution on the afternoon of Wednesday, November 27, please contact the Parish Office.

 

 


 

Learn about fostering a culture of service and charity in your family

Is your family living out the Gospel message in both word and deed? Find out how your family can serve others by living out the Gospel message of love and compassion in your community at Holy Family’s next Building Your Domestic Church Session for Parents on Wednesday, November 13. The session will take place in the Sacred Heart School Hall from 6:30 to 7:30 pm and include talks from Fr. Ryan and a couple from the parish. You will also receive free Advent resources.

 


 

November is Alzheimer's Awareness Month

The SSM Health Greater Fond du Lac Region and the Alzheimer’s Association invite individuals caring for loved ones with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementia-related illnesses to participate in an open gathering to share their feelings, thoughts, and experiences to better cope with and manage the shared challenges of Alzheimer’s and dementia in a safe environment. Free respite care is provided for loved ones during the hour of support group (Fond du Lac only). Groups are offered at the SSM Health Adult Day Services, 420 E. Merrill Avenue, Fond du Lac, the second Tuesday of each month from 1:30-2:30 pm. For more information, call (920) 921-5812.

 


 

Lector Training November 18

All interested and committed to serving as a lector at any Holy Family site for the next liturgical year should mark their calendars and plan on attending a lector training on Monday, November 18, from 6:00 to 7:30 pm in Holy Family Church. Continuing lectors should bring their new lector books along with them for this session. New lectors are welcome and if you would like to lector this year but are unable to attend, please contact Michelle O’Brien at michelleo@hffdl.org.

 

 


 

Holy Family Children's Thanksgiving Coloring Contest

All children are invited to help us celebrate this holiday of gratitude with a Thanksgiving Coloring Contest! Children in grades P3-5 can participate in this contest and will be separated into three age brackets: P3-K4; K5-2, and 3-5. You can pick up a coloring sheet at any of the Holy Family church sites or print off a copy at hffdl.org/coloring beginning November 1.

 

All submissions must be returned to the Parish Office, 271 Fourth Street Way, Fond du Lac, WI 54937, or to our church sites by Sunday, November 17 with all the information on the back of the sheet filled out. There will be three winners in each category, and each will receive a Culver’s gift card and be contacted prior to a public announcement.

 


 

Grief Share: Surviving the Holidays

Are you or someone you know grieving? The holiday season can be difficult for those who have lost a loved one. To help you through this time, Holy Family will host Grief Share’s “Surviving the Holidays” seminar at 4:00 pm on Wednesday, November 13 in the Holy Family Board Room. Adult Confirmation classes to begin in new year

Are you already Baptized, and have received Reconciliation and First Communion in the Catholic Church? Are you wanting to be confirmed in the Catholic faith? Join Holy Family for a six-week session, using Matthew Kelly’s Four Signs of a Dynamic Catholic, along with small group discussions on varying topics, to learn more about the faith from 6:00 to 8:00 pm in Holy Family’s St. Agnes Library Wednesdays, January 8-February 26, 2025. *After completion of the program a date for Confirmation will be scheduled (*while this program is six weeks, you may not be Confirmed in six weeks, depending on each individual’s extenuating circumstances).

Bishops Issue Letter of End-of-Life Decisions

Talking about and facing end of life planning can be difficult. Now and at the Hour of Our Death, a pastoral letter from the Catholic Bishops of Wisconsin, helps foster conversations and answer questions related to end of life decision-making utilizing the Church’s teaching. Volunteer Appreciation Packer Party

All volunteers, from any Holy Family parish site, are invited to come to Holy Family’s annual Volunteer Appreciation Packer Party on Sunday, November 17 in the Holy Family Hall following the 10:00 am Mass. If you volunteer in any capacity at the parish, be it as an Usher, Choir Member, Catechist, or with lawn care, Human Concerns, or bringing Communion to the homebound, we want to celebrate you and your family! There will be a main dish, snacks, and soda available and the Packer versus Bears Game playing on the large wall screen in the hall. Door prizes will be drawn at half-time. Come for the fun and encourage other volunteers to join you!

Get Involved with the Warming Shelter

This week, the Holy Family Warming Shelter will open to care for single adults experiencing homelessness in our community. If you would like to assist in this mission, there are many opportunities for you to help! For more information on how to participate in these opportunities, please visit hffdl.org/warming-shelter. There is currently a need for people to volunteer at the shelter. Mornings and Saturday nights are the most urgently needed. Volunteers will receive training.

 

If you would like to donate to the shelter, there is currently a need for meals. Lastly, the shelter is also in need of donations of new towels, laundry detergent, full-size shampoo, hand sanitizer, and disinfecting wipes. These donations can be dropped off at the Holy Family Parish Office. If you would like to donate an item and have it shipped directly to the Parish Office, please check out the Amazon Wish List at www.amazon.com/wedding/share/hffdl which features the shelter’s most needed items.

 

 


 

Christmas Flower Donations

Every year, donations help to decorate each of the Holy Family church sites at Christmas with beautiful flowers. If you would like to donate to these flowers in memory or in honor of someone, we invite you to send in your donation with the names of those you wish to honor/remember listed in or on the envelope. If you receive weekly donation envelopes from Holy Family, you can use the included envelope for Christmas Flowers to make your donation. Please have all donations submitted by Wednesday, December 4.

Event/Volunteer Opportunities at CMFDL

 

CMFDL is excited to announce two upcoming events for Families. Super Saturday, where kids can dress up as their favorite super hero and enjoy various challenges at this FREE event, or included with admission. It runs 9-4 on Saturday, November 16th.

 

Also, coming up this holiday season is CMFDL’s annual Holiday event, this year’s Snowflake Spectacular will be held on Saturday, December 14th from 9am to noon. FREE for members, $10 for non-members.
